HIGH-DENSITY FIBERBOARD

 HIGH-DENSITY FIBERBOARD

The high-density fiberboard (HDF) for floors is a type of engineering wood product. It is made of wood fibre extracted from wood chips and wood pulp debris. The floor HDF is similar but much harder and denser than the floor of particleboard or medium-density fiberboard (MDF). It has a density greater than 50 pounds per cubic foot or 800 kg per cubic meter. This makes it a perfect stabilizer material for laminate floors and designed hardwood floors.

What is the HDF?

HDF (fiberboard / high-density chipboard) is like MDF, as it is a synthetic composite panel made of compressed wood fibres. It is a stronger and harder product than MDF, with a typical density of up to 900 kg / m3. HDF is mainly used on laminate floors where this density is required, although other uses include door coverings and lower payments.

HDF is a very thin panel with a typical thickness of 3 mm to 8 mm and is also supplied perforated, which means that it is not suitable as a substrate for interior framing. You may have seen HDF in your home, as it is also commonly used as furniture support panels; If so, you will understand that it is not suitable for baseboards and architraves.
